The 32nd edition of the CIFF kicks off !

Last Tuesday the  32nd edition of the Cairo international film festival saw the light with a glamorous opening ceremony. the ceremony started with a Spanish dance that lasted for about 5 minutes. This was followed by the speeches of Dr. Ezzat Abou Ouf -president of the festival-, Omar El Sharif -honorary president of the festival- and H.E Farouk Hosny-the Egyptian minister of culture. It should be noted that Omar el Sharif 's speech was informal and fun to watch. The Egyptian star mentioned that most of the Egyptians are poor but they smile. Later on during the ceremony, hollywood stars, Susan Sarandon, Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russel and Julie Ormond were honored. What's worth mentioning is that the British actress Julie Ormond said her speech in arabic in an atempt to communicate with all the Arab guests present inside the main hall of the Cairo opera house. Egyptian stars including Samira Ahmed -actress-, Mahmoud Yassin -actor-, nihad bahgat-set designer-, Pousy-actress- and Tarek El Telmesany-director of photography were also honored. Alicia Silverstone, Priscilla Presly, Stuart Townsend,
Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ and Songül Öden were among the stars presenting the honored artists.
